This is our last stop in Michigan. We have travelled close to 1500 miles, but have 4500 to go. We will still be on Lake Michigan for a few more stops. The lake was calm and peaceful, which made a wonderful cruise of 39 NM.
When we arrived in St. Joseph, there was already 4 Looper boats. Christine Corbett from SeaBatical was there to catch my lines. Her and her husband Joe were docked right next to us. We met Craig and Patti Esford on Spontaneous, Rick and Marie Ahlert on Rama, Judi and Jerry McNeely on Imagine. Russ and Carol Burchfield on Spirit and Carston and Barbara were on MS Hanne. There was an informal pizza get together at the dock clubhouse. It was wonderful to meet such great people. Christine and Joe had a car and offered to take us places, however the marina had a truck that took people locally.
The marina was close to the lighthouse and beach. It was an easy walk. Unfortunately, we were a few minutes too late to get the lighthouse tour but we got some nice sunset pictures. After walking back with Christine and Joe, we enjoyed an evening chatting on their back deck. Meeting Loopers from all over and creating bonds is what makes this trip so special.
Carol, Mary and I had a 4.5 mile walk into town and around the beach.
Some sights from town.
I have to say Michigan is doing an amazing job honoring all our Veterans.
Traveling throughout the country is an opportunity for history lessons that we don't learn in school.
The lake on Saturday 8/21/21
The lake on Sunday 8/22/21. What a difference a day makes. That is why we pick our weather windows to travel.
