Travel Day to White Lake, MI 8/10/21

We have now traveled 1400 miles!!!!! 245 hours underway!!!

Welcome to White Lake, MI.

After debating about the weather and waves and whether to go or not, we decide to travel. It was windy and lumpy but we managed so we could move on. Once we got into White Lake it was much calmer. Our last leg in the lake was a breeze. There were boats tubing and fishing since it is a larger lake. Our marina was tucked away at the end of the lake. Thankfully we did not anchor since that night there was a huge wind and rain storm. We (Hal) had to put out extra lines and fenders. The marina was quiet and empty which was a welcome change from our other marinas. We just chilled and walked in to town a few times. White Lake was small and quiet with a few stores, ice cream being one of them.

World's largest working weathervane. It is 48 feet tall with an arrow of 26 feet long.

Across the bridge is Monatgue. It is the home of the world's largest working weathervane. The grocery store and another ice cream store were over here. After walking to try the ice cream, we got caught in a thunderstorm. We ducked under an overhang to finish our sweet treats and then made a fast paced walk back to the marina. Unfortunately we were all soaked by the time we go back.

Turtles are all over. The Michigan department of Natural Resources have been building up the natural shoreline to bring back the homes of fish, turtles, and birds. It was beautiful to see all the animals. I almost got a picture of a gorgeous yellow bird.

I convinced Hal to walk to the town of White Lake. He complained about the 'Mount Everest' hill he had to climb up but he did it. He thought the Ace Hardware store was a great find and of course he had to try the ice cream here. We went in to one store and they asked him how he was doing. His reply "trying to not kill myself" earned him having to try on a huge ring that the store owner thought would give him something to look at. The shop owner was probably convinced it would fit since it was so big, unfortunately she was mistaken (I think he went back to killing himself - lol).

Hal and Chris being "twins".
